Kara M. Burgarella became an associate of the law firm in 2002 and elevated to partner in 2012. With an energetic and caring personality, Burgarella specifically chose to begin her career as an attorney in the area of personal injury because of her strong desire to help accident victims obtain fair and just results.
She proved herself in the legal community quickly, achieving successful jury verdicts and valuable settlements in her early years of practice, including one in which the verdict exceeded $350,000.00. In that case, the insurance company offer was $50,000.00, but Burgarella's belief in the case and her trial skills triumphed. Her strengths lie in her trial preparation and in her dedicated (some would say "fierce") advocacy for her clients.
In 2012, Burgarella achieved the distinction of being board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. She has also been named each year since 2010 by Super Lawyers magazine as a "Rising Star," an award given to the "top up-and-coming attorneys" in each state. She is active in the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and currently serves on the membership committee for this organization dedicated to preserving the rights of insured persons within the civil justice system.
Burgarella graduated from Colgate University in 1997, and obtained her law degree from Quinnipiac University in May of 2002. A native of Guilford, she was a standout basketball player at Guilford High School and again at Colgate University. In 2009, she was inducted into the Guilford High School Sports Hall of Fame and in 2012, the New Haven County Tap-Off High School Sports Hall of Fame. She resides with her husband, and their two bulldogs, in Guilford.
