Dale P. Faulkner, Shelley L. Graves, and Kara M. Burgarella have
long histories representing persons injured in a variety of ways. The
professional achievements of all three partners, Faulkner,
Graves and Burgarella, is highlighted by their inclusion in the
February 2015 issue of Connecticut Magazine, honoring the
5% of attorneys chosen in Connecticut by Super Lawyers as
exhibiting excellence in the practice of law. The
selection process for Super Lawyers is

The firm has two key goals: the skilled trial of cases and paying close professional attention to their clients' needs. Each client is important without regard to the dollar value of that person's claim. While the firm has obtained multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements, it prides itself in working successfully to obtain justice and fair compensation for those injured victims whose cases are of modest value as well.
Dale Faulkner has devoted all of his 50 years of practice to the trial of cases. A board certified civil trial advocate, his reputation as a premier trial attorney is known throughout Connecticut. He has gained million dollar verdicts and settlements. The regard in which he is held is reflected in the many times he is chosen by judges and lawyers to serve as an arbitrator or mediator.
Shelley Graves became a lawyer in 1994. She quickly emerged as an effective, agile trial lawyer obtaining, among other wins, a $2 million dollar judgment in one of her first jury trials. More recently, Graves obtained a $8.9 million dollar judgment after a trial to a jury for a 27 year old tractor trailer truck driver who suffered serious injury in a multi-car collision on the highway caused by an oil tanker truck. Graves is known for her thoroughness in case development and dogged determination on behalf of her clients.
A critical achievement is the naming of Attorneys Faulkner and Graves in the national publication, The Best Lawyers in America. Faulkner has appeared in that book since its initial publication, over thirty years ago. Graves has been honored by her peers each year for inclusion since the 2010 edition. Best Lawyers is regarded by lawyers and the public as the definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States. Inclusion is based upon an exhaustive and rigorous, confidential peer-review survey across the country. The selection process for being listed in The Best Lawyers in America is detailed at the following web address: http://www.bestlawyers.com/about/CT_Methodology.aspx
Kara Burgarella became a lawyer in 2002. She rapidly became an
excellent trial lawyer and is identified throughout the State as one of
the best young advocates to emerge in many years. She displays the
important qualities of legal ability and genuine care for her clients.
Since 2010, Super Lawyers magazine
has consistently declared Attorney Burgarella a "Rising Star". In
2013, Burgarella achieved the distinction of being board certified as a
Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
The firm itself was founded in 1986 and operated for many years
under the name of Faulkner & Boyce. It was originally located
at 216 Broad Street in New London. The firm moved to its present
